Hiring Managers and Selection Committees

Our goal is to attract diverse individuals with the requisite skills, qualifications and experience to successfully meet our current and future needs. Hiring Managers and Selection Committee Members play a critical role in helping us achieve this role.

While others will be engaged throughout the recruitment and selection process, the hiring manager is responsible for ensuring that recruitment is conducted in accordance with the University’s guidelines on staff recruitment, discrimination, and the Employment Equity Policy. It is the role of the Selection Committee to fairly assess the merits of each applicant and recommend the best applicant.

By maintaining a diligent recruitment and selection process, we are able to hire and promote excellent candidates and reflect a balanced commitment to equal employment opportunity, good personnel management practices, and the mission and goals of the university.

Hiring Guides

The Faculty Hiring Guide (coming soon!) and the Staff Hiring Guidelines have been developed by McMaster faculty and staff, for McMaster hiring managers, based on recruitment best practices. The guides aim to streamline the hiring process, ensure you have the best applicant pool, and offer you research-based practices to hire the right candidate.
